Surgical Services

Perry County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) is proud to serve our community with a state-of-the-art surgery department. We are able to perform many different types of procedures due to the variety of specialty physicians who see patients on our campus.

Our experienced surgical staff includes board-certified surgeons, advanced cardiac life support trained nurses, certified surgical technologists, physician assistants and anesthesia specialists.

We also go to great lengths to ensure that your surgery is safe and complication-free. Our central sterilizing department processes and sterilizes surgical instruments to provide the surgeon with the instruments needed to perform the patient's surgery. We are proud that our technicians have achieved certification in central sterilizing.

Surgery at the Hospital

PCMH has surgery suites that are second to none. The suites feature computerized integration, boom technology and the latest in environmentally friendly LED surgical lights. Using this advanced technology allows us to provide a high level of safety for our patients while protecting the environment and reducing our carbon footprint.

The surgical services department performs a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient procedures, including general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), gastroenterology, ophthalmology, podiatry, urology and pain management.

Perryville Surgical Clinic

The board-certified general surgeons at Perryville Surgical Clinic (PSC) and the highly skilled surgical staff at PCMH perform many general and laparoscopic surgeries. Ronald Richmond, MD, FACS; Jonathon Foley, MD, FACS; and Major Burger, DO, offer services to expand upon the availability and range of services offered.

A variety of procedures are performed by the PSC at PCMH, including:

  • Abdominal hernia repair.
  • Appendectomy.
  • Bile duct procedures.
  • Breast surgery.
  • Colon resection and small bowel surgery.
  • Gallbladder surgery.
  • Hemorrhoid repair.
  • Hiatal hernia and reflux surgery.
  • Leg amputations.
  • Lesion, cysts, abscess, lymph node and lipoma removal.
  • Port placement.
  • Rectal surgery.
  • Surgical removal of some cancers.
  • Thyroid surgery.
  • Vasectomy.

Surgeries are performed in PCMH's state-of-the-art surgical suite. Patients can be assured that they are receiving treatment in the most up-to-date surgical facility in Southeast Missouri.
