Many general and laparoscopic surgeries are performed through the Perryville Surgical Clinic by board certified general surgeons and a highly skilled surgical staff.   Joseph W. Sharlow, M.D. and D. Michael Steele, M.D. have been providing exceptional care to the community and surrounding areas for more than 20 combined years.

Doctors Sharlow and Steele diagnose and treat a variety of conditions that require surgical intervention while working closely with your family doctor to provide continuity of care.

A variety of procedures are performed by the Perryville Surgical Clinic (PSC) at Perry County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) including:

  • Upper and lower endoscopy (Colonoscopy and EGD)
  • Hemorrhoid repair
  • Laparoscopic  and open gallbladder surgery
  • Hernia repair
  • Breast surgery
  • Rectal surgery
  • Colon surgery (including resection)
  • Lesion, cysts, abscess, lymph node and lipoma removal
  • Feeding tube insertion
  • Appendectomy
  • Emergency surgery

Theresa Cavins, M.D., of Metis Breast Care also joins the team.  Dr. Cavins is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant breast disease.  Once a diagnosis of breast cancer is made, treatment options will be discussed with you and your family so you can take an active role in developing an individualized treatment plan that works for you.

Surgeries are performed in Perry County Memorial Hospital’s new state-of-the-art surgical suite. Patients can be assured that they are receiving treatment in the most up-to-date surgical facility in Southeast Missouri. 

The office hours of Perryville Surgical Clinic (PSC) are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m..
