here for Job Application CLINIC STAFF NURSE / LPN Department: Perryville Family Care Clinic Job Status: Full Time Job Hours: Monday 9-6, Tuesday 9-6, Wednesday 8-5, Thursday 9-6:30, Friday 9-6 (Person would have to be able to stay until patients are gone, which is sometimes 6:30 and THEN go over phone calls and tasks with the doctor. It is not uncommon for it to be 7:00 or laterJob Summary: Reports to Office manager. Minimal supervision. Works in cooperation with other staff nurses and provides guidance to medical assistants. Performs a variety of patient care activities to assist provider and nursing personnel. Sets example of administering nursing care to patients and staff. Provide education of preventive medicine and how to help control disease processes to patients and families. Acts as a liaison between patient, provider, medical community and other services as needed by the patient. Responsible for supplies in work area and maintaining a safe working environment. Requires full range of body motion in transporting patients. Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminal, telephone, and fax machine. Requires lifting up to 50 lbs. Requires ability to organize and prioritize work. Frequently, requires sustained mental effort and high emotional strain in a fast paced environment. Working conditions consist of frequent exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases and conditions common to a clinical environment. Examples of duties: 1. Escorts patients to exam room, updates medical history, and assists in determining medical problems. 2. Obtains vital signs and records current medications. 3. Assists patients in patient flow through the office and facility. 4. Prepares exam rooms and instruments for examination and testing. Stocks supplies. Cleans and sterilizes instruments according to procedure. Informs nurse manager when supplies are near end for reordering. 5. Labels and maintains proper storage for specimens and tests. Delivers tests and obtains results. 6. Ensures that lab reports, x‑rays and other information is in the patient records 7. Maintains charts in orderly sequence. 8. Assist providers and other team members with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed such as tympanogram, audiogram, and pelvic exams. 9. Issues outpatient materials. Assists in application and patient instruction, 10. Assist patient care staff with carrying out provider orders, scheduling of tests and procedures in office and outpatient. 11. Attends required meetings and in-services, and participates in committees as requested. 12. Triage patient's concerns and phone messages and advise patients and/or families when appropriate. Calls orders to pharmacies, hospital, other physicians, nursing homes and home health agencies. 13. Follows established policies and procedures. 14. Follows universal precautions. 15. Acts as role model and provides continuing education to medical assistant staff as necessary. 16. Maintains patient confidentiality. 17. Attends continuing education in‑services to keep abreast on new procedures and treatments of disease processes. 18. Assist other patient care staff in their responsibilities as time allows. 19. Administers medication per provider orders according to the five rights of med pass without undue error. Observes effects of medication and acts accordingly. 20. Acts as a liaison between patient, provider, medical community and other services as needed by patient and families. 21. Demonstrates knowledge and effective use of computer systems. They must be flexible and able to deal with the rapidly changing healthcare environment. Experience preferred, but candidates eager to learn new skills may apply. Provides direct patient care within the interpreted guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act of Missouri. Participates in clarifying medical information to patient, family, and staff. Interprets, transcribes, and implements physician orders accurately. Adheres to medical center policies and procedures during medication administration (effect/reaction), order transcription, IV therapy, and all other therapeutic modalities. Provides intense emotional and psychological support for patients/family. Participates in health care teaching of patients/family utilizing appropriate teaching standard, evaluating its effectiveness. Can perform all technical skills and procedures for area with little direction. Experience preferred. Special Requirements: Current BLS/ACLS certifications, PALS recommended.
